Say Yes to your Inner Voice
We all have that little voice inside of us. The question is, do we listen to it or ignore it? After years of ignoring it, I finally listened.
Here is my story.
In 2004, I bought a house. I received curtains from a friend who had never used them. My ex-partner first said, “Did you not save enough money to buy curtains? Why except second-hand stuff?” I was so surprised by his remark that I just stood there. I did not know how or what to answer. My inner voice whispered that I should end the relationship and sell the house. I ignored it.
On the first day of moving into the house, something went wrong, and his remark was: “Could you not buy a quality product instead of this cheap thing?” Again, I stood there in complete shock. My inner voice whispered again that I should end the relationship and sell the house. I ignored it again.
There were many more of these moments. My inner voice was always there to tell me what to do. I never listened. After 13 years, I finally packed my belongings and my child and left. This time, I listened when my inner voice told me to go. It told me to leave all material things behind, and I did. I knew it was all right because my inner voice told me so.
You must turn off all external noises to hear and listen to your inner voice. The best way to do that is to meditate in a silent place. It will take some time for some of you to finally get there. But, once you can tune in to that inner voice, which brings peace of mind, you can make better and faster decisions.
